REACH OUT TO ASIA

Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) seeks to extend Qatar Foundation's human development mission to an international arena by bringing high-quality education to the less fortunate across Asia.

It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization devoted to providing Education for All throughout Asia and the Middle East, thereby furthering some of the Millennium Development Goals defined by the United Nations.

Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) seeks to extend Qatar Foundation's human development mission to an international arena by bringing high-quality education to the less fortunate across Asia.

ROTA believes everyone has a right to high-quality education - regardless of age, sex or circumstance, and it promotes this cause by funding basic education, rebuilding classrooms and providing school equipment in disaster-stricken and war-torn areas.

ROTA's activities within Qatar are accomplished under the auspices of ROTAQ and initiatives across Asia and Middle East are carried out under the ROTAsia program. This includes Develop ROTAsia - covering funding concerns for basic infrastructure; Connect ROTAsia - developing a regional knowledge network in Asia; and Act ROTAsia - extending emergency relief post-natural disasters across the continent.

ROTA has raised more than US$35 million through its fundraising efforts, including concerts by celebrities like Bryan Adams, community awareness events like Wheels 'n' Heels and high-profile Gala Dinners, which have brought together statesmen, VIPs, sports icons and dignitaries.

One of ROTA's greatest strength is its volunteer program, through which it coordinates with other national and international organizations devoted to educational and social work across Asia.

ROTA was launched in December 2005 by HE Sheikha Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, daughter of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
