Qatar Academy Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

4th June 2007, Doha: Qatar Academy celebrated its 10th Anniversary at the Sheraton Hotel, Doha. The ceremony marked an important milestone for Qatar Academy and offered teachers, staff and students the chance to reflect on the achievements of the last 10 years.

Qatar Academy was founded in 1996 as a center of excellence, by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar. From its inception QA has pursued its mission to prepare future generations for the challenges of the 21st century and educate students to take their place in society as world citizens. In the last 10 years QA has taken great strides forward in realizing its mission - establishing itself as a leading school in both Qatar and the region.

Current Director of Qatar Academy, Dr. Hana Kanan, spoke about QA's many accomplishments, "The success story is a combination of hundreds of smaller stories which has taken us far from our modest beginnings in 1996 with 24 students, to a world class school of 1400 students, full IB authorization, accredited by the most prestigious international accreditation organizations ECIS and NEASC".

The anniversary celebration was graced by the presence of members of the original Executive Establishing Committee, Dr. Sheikha Al Misned, Dr. Saif Al Hajari, Dr. Abduljalil Al Lamanat and Dr. Ghadeh Faqeeh, whose tireless work all contributed to the success of Qatar Academy.

The ceremony was also attended by many of the original students who joined Qatar Academy in 1996, officials from Qatar Foundation, representatives from Qatar Academy's Board of Governors and Parent Teacher Association, along with all of QA's current employees and their spouses.

Qatar Academy's 10 year anniversary coincided with the school's five year report visit from the ECIS/NEASC, which will re-accredit the school for the next 5 years. As QA celebrates the many achievements of its first 10 years, the school is already working towards an equally illustrious future.
