Falcons Team descend on Cairo

February 2007 saw two teams of Qatar's best fighting Falcons descend on Cairo, Egypt to confront five other international schools inthe ISAC Junior Varsity BasketballChampionship. Athletes were housed with host families and shown a glimpse of life in that big, bustling, boisterous city.

For three days straight we convened at the cavernous Cairo National Stadium to face opposition from schools whose players were generally far more experienced than us. We put up a valiant fight but were many times out-matched, such that the girls secured fifth and the boys sixth positions overall. Nevertheless, we gained greatly from our experiences on and off the floor.

In addition to hours and hours of basketball, we squeezed in a stroll through the famous KhanKhalilybazaar to shop for souvenirs, as well as saw the famous sound and light show at the 4,000 year-old pyramids and Sphinx. Truly outstanding!

We are already anticipating next year's ISAC JV Basketball tournament when the Falcons will once again proudly throw on maroon uniforms, lace up hoop shoes, and take to the court fighting.
