24/02/10: At this year's Qatar Career Fair, Qatar Foundation providing more than just jobs.

  •  QF stand to provide career counselling and advice on career development
  •  Traineeships, internships, sponsorships among opportunities on offer
  •  3,000 CVs received by QF already, more expected at QCF

The Human Resources Directorate at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development has announced its plan for the QF stand at this year's Qatar Career Fair, which will focus on career development and counselling for young Qataris beginning their professional lives.

According to Qatar Foundation HR officials, they have already received over 1,600 CVs and are expecting more at the fair. ""All a candidate needs is potential, basic skills and the desire to excel,"" said Hassan Al Hammadi Human Resources Director at Qatar Foundation. ""Even though experience and high university scores are ideal, we have the best career development plan in the country and a top-notch training centre that can qualify candidates with only a high school degree.""

The training centre is a state-of-the-art facility that prepares young Qataris for a fulfilling career at Qatar Foundation, providing computer, English language, communication, and problem-solving classes.  The training aims to develop candidates' technical, behavioural and leadership skills.

The QF stand at Qatar Career Fair will counsel young Qataris about the different opportunities they can find at Qatar Foundation, and which is best for them. While traineeship candidates are trained for a target position for a period of time, during which they are treated as staff- and can be accepted with a high school degree- internship candidates are university students, at any level, who are given the opportunity to work for  a 2-3 months while studying. Qatar Foundation also sponsors students applying to study abroad or at any of the branch campuses at Education City. Experienced job-seekers are also welcome at Qatar Foundation.

QF's plan for this year's Qatar Career Fair fall within the framework of Qatar's National Vision 2030.

""We aim to either put Qataris in the jobs that suit them or to give them the skills needed for those jobs,"" said Al Naimi. ""This way we reduce dependence on expatriates, and we create a continuity and the transfer of knowledge amongst Qataris.""

""This plan is also in line with QF's vision to unlock human potential and create people who can lead Qatar into the future,"" he added.
