Students Portrait Project for Art Exhibition

Young members of Qatar’s community are showcasing their artistic talents in the annual Mathaf Student Art Competition and Exhibition, ‘Looking In…’, the soft launch of which took place at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art on 4 April 2015.

‘A Girl in a Box’

Kuwaiti artist Ghadah Alkandari staged her first exhibition in Qatar in the Project Space at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition, which had been due to conclude on 7 June 2014 but was extended until 29 June, was the result of a residency that the artist held at Mathaf.

When Exhibiting Art Becomes an Art Form Itself

The only institution of its kind in Qatar, Mathaf:Arab Museum of Modern Art opened to the public in 2010, and has since carved a niche for itself as a museum that explores and celebrates modern and contemporary art, and offers an Arab perspective on international art.
