What is Qatar Music Academy?
At QMA, we aspire to foster music appreciation in Qatar, and to be champions of music excellence in the wider region
Qatar Music Academy (QMA) is a new addition to Qatar Foundation, aiming to produce professional musicians able to play both Western and Arab music. Opened in January 2011, QMA’s overall ambition is to increase appreciation of music within the Qatari community.
Children’s music lessons
QMA’s Preparatory Program is open to any child who loves music. The program aims to nurture young talent from all walks of life, offering children aged eight to ten an intensive series of one to one after school music lessons. These lessons enable children to discover and play a wide variety of Arabic and Western instruments.
Community orchestras and performances
Early 2011 will also see QMA launch its Community Outreach Program. Aimed at anyone over ten years old, this new initiative consists of a series of informal group practice sessions and rehearsals. QMA hopes to see a grassroots orchestra flourish and aims to stage public performances that will encourage a new wave of music appreciation in Qatar.
Practice to performance
Located at the heart of Qatar’s Cultural Village, students can enjoy cutting-edge facilities, customized to develop individual talents. Each space has been designed to maximize student potential from practice to performance.
